Removable Panels
Are they meant to be removed often? DEFINITELY NOT!
You'll want to leave the panels in place during day to day use and just throw your SoftShells in the dishwasher with the frame and panels intact.
Why are they removable? So you can deep clean or sterilize them every so often. If you choose to remove them, here's how you put them back in:
(1) Lay the frame flat and place the panels on top of it. (2) Starting at the outer corners of one panel, press along the seam every half inch or so until you’ve made it all the way around. (3) Repeat with the other panel.
Cleaning
Due to its lay-flat design, it easily fits in the dishwasher just like a plate. Cleaning it that way on a regular basis is the fastest, simplest method.
As with all silicone, some harsher dishwashing detergents can leave behind a soapy taste or residue over time. If you experience this, simply remove the panels and place them in a solution of 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water and boil for 5 minutes (do not boil the frame).
We highly recommend using dye-free, unscented detergents.
Did a little bit of the panel pop out of the frame when cleaning?
Just press it back in!
Microwaving it?
Just vent it open a bit!
Will it stain?
Red sauces, turmeric, and pesto will likely stain the silicone panels. If it does, simply remove the panels from the frame, place them in a flat tray, fill the wells of the panels with 3% hydrogen peroxide, and allow them to soak for 12 hours. Our Grape and Raspberry colors are best for use with sauces that may stain.
