FAQ
-
Does any plastic touch the food?
No. Only the silicone panels touch the food.
-
Is it BPA-free?
Yes, both the panels and the frame are free of BPA, Phthalates, PVC and Lead.
-
Can I microwave it?
Yes. Simply vent open the SoftShell when microwaving. Do not microwave it when it’s closed.
-
Will it leak?
SoftShells are designed to hold condiments like ketchup and ranch, but we don't recommend it for thin, watery liquids or soups.
-
How do I clean it?
Due to its lay-flat design, it easily fits in the dishwasher just like a plate on the bottom rack. Cleaning it that way on a regular basis is the fastest, simplest method. The silicone panels can be removed from the frame for deep cleaning, but THE PANELS ARE NOT MEANT TO BE REMOVED EVERY TIME.
-
How do I sterilize the silicone panels if I wish to do so?
Simply peel the silicone panels from the frame and place them in boiling water for a few minutes. When they’ve fully cooled, place them back into the frame. Do not put the plastic frame in the boiling water.
-
How do I put the panels back into the frame?
We recommend starting at one of the corners and pressing every half inch or so. It’s only recommended to remove the panels every so often as doing so can take a couple of minutes.
-
Will red sauce stain the silicone?
Red sauces, turmeric, and pesto will likely stain the silicone panels. If it does, simply remove the silicone panel from the SoftShell frame, place it in a flat tray, fill the well of the panel with 3% hydrogen peroxide, and allow it to soak for 12 hours.
-
Do I need to lock the SoftShell every time?
No. I don’t lock it when packing the Little Bee’s sandwich in her school lunch bag to make it easier for her to open. We only lock it when it contains food that easily spill or there’s a decent chance of dropping it.
I use silicone almost exclusively but these are so much better! They stack and dry easily as well as hold an amount that meets my needs. I sent the olds ones to the thrift store.
The ability to get these clean in the dishwasher was the primary reason I bought them. I also love the deep boxes for freezing fruits and vegetables I buy plastic-free (either leaving them loose at the grocery store or buying them from a farmer's market).
Love the reusable sandwich container! Great that it locks and can be used as a plate too!

I really like this concept. Did it's first job of keeping my slice of quiche in perfect condition and was super easy to clean. Thank you for making these.
